To say that co-hosting Dewey’s Readathon is one of the highlights of my life is an understatement. I have hosted this event with my best friend Andi for over 7 years. I was able to help keep a dear lady’s (Dewey for any new readers) memory, love of books, and community spirit alive for her friends and new generations of readers. I have read many amazing books and learned of billions more. It’s hard to say goodbye, but it’s not really goodbye. I’m just coming back over to your side. I’ll see you next time. As a reader.

Hour 2 – Blind Date with a Book

Have you ever done this? I haven’t and I really wish I would. I especially think it would be kind of cool today. If you get in a rut, and can’t get into a book, try it. Fix it so you can’t see the book you’re picking and just dive it. If it doesn’t stick, try it again. Free range reading y’all. It’s all the rage.

Hour 2 – Dogs and Caffeine

Are you awake yet readathoners?

Kristen from The Book Monsters here and I’ve been up taking care of my dogs for a couple hours already – they’re fed and walked and hopefully ready to let me read! I took them to the off leash dog park last night and let them run wild, so hopefully they’ll be tired most of the day today. Hopefully they will look like this:

Are you reading with a furry friend today? I’ll be asking for some cuteness on Twitter for sure. 🙂

But let’s talk caffeine – what are your caffeine plans for the day? Do you like a steaming hot cup of coffee? Tea? Or are you more of an iced person? Soda, energy drinks, or maybe you eat straight espresso beans (I prefer the chocolate covered ones)?

What’s going to keep you awake when you most need it today?

For me it’s a combo of tea and coffee. I prefer hot espresso mixed with whipped cream aka Espresso con Panna. For tea, I like chai tea when it comes to caffeinated teas. For nighttime, I choose peppermint.

Whether you’ve read with us for a few years now or are a new reader joining us for the first time, I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE. Reading, and chatting, and partying all over the world with a few hundred readers. What could be better than that? And we’ve been doing it for 10 years now!

Hour 2 – Just getting started!

You may or may not notice throughout the day that the blog is having some issues. We’ve been working on it for about 24 hours. Talked with support. Changed all kinds of things. And it hasn’t helped. Things move, but it is SUPER SLOW. Please know we’re doing all we can to make this as smooth as possible.
