Hour 14 – Where are you at?

Hi all, Paula here again. I’m joining you from my home on the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest Coast of Washington State, USA. Reading from my comfy spot on the couch with November the cat and Bogart the dog. Where are you reading at right now? Are you alone, with family, friends or pets? Do you prefer solitude when you read or are you one of those people who can read in a crowd?

Everyone is different, I know. Personally, I can read anywhere, as long as folks around me recognize that I’m reading and don’t try to talk to me. I am developing what I call my “Resting Book Face”. As the daughter of a polite mother, I try really, really hard not to roll my eyes and frown if someone interrupts my reading, but I’m not always successful.

How are you holding up? Hour 14 already? Stand up and stretch, walk around a little, pat yourself on the back and get back to it. Book Lovers Unite, you’ve all got this.

Hour 14 – Hello from Jennifer!

Hellooooooo! Jennifer here from the lapsed blog (SAD FACE) The Relentless Reader! I do hope we’ve bumped into one another on Twitter or Instagram though? I also run a very bookish Facebook page if you’d like to visit me there. (I’d sure love to see you!)

Okay gang, we’re in hour 14. Whew! By now you’ve done some amazing reading, eaten some fantastic foods, and participated in some rad challenges. Right? Right! I hope you’ve been having the BEST DAY EVER!

I want to know what your favorite foods have been, so far? I know that books are the stars of this day but this girl loves to hear about snacks! Tell me what you’re eating and if you drop a recipe in the comment section I certainly won’t complain. (We all need ideas for the next time around!)

Keep reading, my babies! You got this!

Reverse Readathon Hour 14

Hey, this is Janani from The Shrinkette. I’m super enjoying the reverse readathon timing, it works great in my timezone. It’s about 8.30 PM here in Bangalore, and I’m just about ready to stuff my face with dinner while listening to an audiobook.

By this point in the day most of us have done a fair bit of reading, made headway into books in our stack, and that fatigue is starting to creep up on us. So it’s time to shake things up with your body and make that sluggishness go bye-bye! You can stand up and shake your arms and legs, take a short walk with an audiobook (even if that means just walking around your house), do some deep breathing or yoga to get that oxygen flowing to your brain, or my favorite- 60 second dance party! Crank up a favorite tune and shake that booty, it makes such a difference.

Works even better if you have a readathon partner. So get up, shake it off, and dive back into your book! Happy reading y’all!

Hour 14 – Hanging in

Hi everyone! It’s Elizabeth here from Earl Grey Editing. I’ll be your co-host for the next two hours. Hour 14 is just getting underway, so there’s only another ten to go! Are you hanging in there?

No matter what time zone you’re in, you’ve likely been reading for a while by this point. If you’re having trouble concentrating or even just keeping your eyes open, changing your location can help. Even shifting from the couch to the bed and back can make a difference.

It’s late morning in Australia. The autumn weather is a touch chilly, but it’s a nice, clear day. I’ll be grabbing the hammock and a blanket, and retreating to the backyard. If I’m lucky, there might even be company.

It’s Dana again, back for hour 14. In the spring I posted asking for funny memes and it was my most favorite post I’ve done. Let’s do it again, shall we?

Hour 14 – Reading Companions

Hour 1 of Readathon

Hour 13 of Readathon

How is everyone doing? Hanging in there? Courtney here of Stiletto Storytime again (@stiletostorytime) for my last hour of co-hosting. Thought I would check in on your current state? Are you more like my twin cats Ava and Buddha at Hour 1 or Hour 13 of today’s Readathon? I am hoping Hour 1 as my furry reading companions are currently snoring quite loudly and have been for some time. I tried to get them to go out for a snack run but so far not happening.

Which brings me to asking who are you reading with today? I ‘d love to see who your Readathon furry friends are if you’d like to share in the comments below, on our Readathon Facebook page or even on Twitter with #ReadathonPets. For now I am signing off and handing you over to our next amazing co-host! So just remember in the meantime…the main goal is to just keep reading! You can do it!!

Hour 14 – Can’t stop the feeling…

fyi-7

Dana back for hour 14!

This is one of the best days of the year but sometimes we can get caught up comparing ourselves to other readers out there. It doesn’t matter if you read fast or if you read slow. It doesn’t matter if you read 15 books or 1. What matters is that you have FUN! Read what you can, when you can. I am a slow reader with 2 little active boys so I won’t be able to read all the books. But that’s ok….any reading is good reading!

Hour 14 – Let’s Party

FYI (8)

Greetings everyone! This is Courtney at @stiletostrytime getting ready to  co-host you for the next hour or so. Hope you are still going strong but if not I have a little something to perk you up. I’m sure you knew we had to slip some Prince in here at some point. For me here in EST it’s 9:00 pm so it seemed appropriate to have us wake up a bit by partying like it’s 1999. And as we party we can enjoy the out of this world gifts he left us as a musician and a masterful artist of words. So get up, maybe get moving…we have a ways to go to finish this readathon.

Speaking of readathon…what are you reading right now? Me, well I’m settled in for a little dose of Game of Thrones. I have a confession though. I have a bit of a legging problem. My husband might say it is an addiction. If possible I like my leggings to match various things so for readathon if I am reading of Jon Snow, I have to rock my wolves right?  #TeamStark and all that. What are you wearing this readathon?

I’lll give you a hint for Hour 15 as this is a bit of a clue. I have a surprise coming up next hour so this pic might have something to do with how you enter….until then keep reading. You got this! Hour 14 – Push Your Book!

ss3

And so are you!

Hey Readathoners! It’s the gals from The Socratic Salon again…

Monika: What are you all reading today that you want to bully the rest of us into discussing on TSS?

Jennifer: I’m going to be reading a bunch of graphic novels today. I would love to discuss a mind-bending comic on The Socratic Salon one day. Maybe Sex Criminals? Perhaps Lumberjanes?  There are so many that would be great for a deep discussion. So, do it!

Monika: Lumberjanes would be so much fun to discuss!

Catherine: The only opportunity I’ll have for reading is when I’m getting my hair done because this is going to be a weekend from hell. So, it’s likely to be The Book of Aron- which I packed and took over to the new house because I’m so naive I thought we’d be living there by now. Hah!

April: Oo. I want to read Sex Criminals! I’m listening to Vanity Fair and still working on Cloud Atlas. Though if you’re low on books today you need to be bullied into reading All the Birds, Singing, there’s SO. MUCH. to discuss in there.

ss2

Shannon: SO agreed on All the Birds, Singing. That was a previous Readathon read for me!

What about you, dear readers? Are you reading anything during Readathon that you feel must be discussed? Drop them in our suggestion box!
