April 2021, readathon

Hour 0… Almost time for the April 2021 Readathon!

Hello Readathon Friends! This is Kate and we are less than one hour away from the April 2021 Readathon. So much has changed since the last October Read-a-thon. My dog, Gracie, had four puppies at the end of February.

So, without further ado, lets get this event going!

If you participated in the October 2020 Readathon, then you were introduced to Readathon Bingo! In case you missed the post with the Bingo Board and Rules, you can find a menu option above named “Bingo”. The Bingo Board and rules can be found there. This will also be linked on every hourly post so you can be able to reference it. Please feel free to copy the image and post your progress to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #readathonbingo

Also, if you haven’t already joined our Goodreads Group, now would be a great opportunity to do so! We will be hosting a Reading Sprint in the first hour and would love for you to join us! There will be additional reading sprints on hours: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24. Use those opportunities in your attempt to get a Bingo 🙂

You can also join our Facebook Group. Throughout the Readathon, volunteers will be posting hourly discussion posts. A lot of members also enjoy pictures of their progress, or their food, and we would love for you to join us there!

Now, without further ado, I’ll leave you to all those last minute things you’ve procrastinated doing… that first book you need to pick (if you’re doing the bingo challenge make sure to pick two books and then flip a coin to pick your first book), that snack you need to grab, the coffee you need to brew… and the opening survey you need to fill out (please see below). I’ll see you all back here in an hour when you all crack open our books together and begin our weekend reading adventure! Happy reading, friends 🙂

Opening Survey!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

This time I picked up some audiobooks of short story collections for my husband and into listen to together for those times when we want to be engaged in the same story/can’t be reading. We intend to use those while we get some chores/cooking done.

This is my first 24-Hour Readathon (I’ve done 24-in-48 a bunch) – definitely looking forward to making a dent in my TBR pile 🙂

Oh the choices. More than I can fit into a day, but I will be starting with Inherit the Stars by James P Hogan

SuzyQ donuts. The best donuts in the world (I will shortly be heading over to pick them up, while listening to the audiobook of my first book)

    4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’m in my 50s, and became an avid reader when as a kid in the 70s we lived in the Netherlands for several years. With no English tv and few kids in the neighbourhood that spoke English, I started reading. A lot.

    5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I’ve been having eye strain, so I’m going heavy on the audiobooks this time around.
