Hello friends! We are just under 40 days away from the October 2020 readathon. (Click here to find the countdown clock.) I can hardly believe it. I’m writing this post to let you know that Gabby and I have some exciting things in the works for this readathon. Tune in on October 1st for the start of something new!
In the meantime, I would love if we could get some volunteers to write pre-readathon posts with any tips and insights from their experience with the event. There are many angles that could be addressed (tips for staying awake, reading for charity, snacks, books, etc). If you are interested in writing a post for the blog, please email me at: deweyreadathon@gmail.com
By the end of the week, there will be a post up calling for volunteers for the event. We will need people to help with co-hosting the main website, mini-challenges, twitter parties, etc. If this is something that interests you, please do not hesitate to volunteer. You don’t need to have volunteered in the past to volunteer now. In addition, if you have an interest in donating a giveaway prize, please get in contact.
And finally, Gabby and I wanted to issue a small challenge to get excited about the readathon. If you’re like me, life has gotten busy and you may not have cracked open a book since the Reverse Readathon (don’t look at my shame). So to start getting ourselves out of our reading slumps and to stretch those brain muscles, we are challenging you to read at least one book a week every week in the lead up to Readathon. If this is too easily attainable for you, then adjust the number of books so that it is a challenge for you. In addition, if you find that you are too easily able to meet your challenge goal, feel free to increase the number for future weeks.
Thank you for checking in and happy reading!

Can’t wait for October! Will there be a GR thread for the reading challenge?

This is Kate. Yes, there will be. Gabby is planning on starting to clear up the threads and getting it ready over there.
