Reverse Readathon Hour 10 – It’s ALSO all about the FOOD


You know, when I start to plan for a readathon, the first thing I DO think of is WHAT WILL I READ? However, it’s quickly followed by WHAT WILL I EAT? Do you have a favorite reading snack? One of my favorite memories growing up is sitting at my kitchen table in my grandparents house, drinking Dr. Pepper and eating Cheetos Cheese Puffs. So, yes, I get that for every Readathon.

I also have a family I have to feed, so I usually cook dinner in the crockpot. This time I’m making Jamaican Jerk Pulled Pork with Caribbean slaw and corn. Honestly cannot wait for that.

  1. Lots of little snacks throughout the day. For dinner, we live within walking distance to a chinese restaurant so I plan to take my book with me, place my order, read while I wait, then walk home and enjoy.


  2. I usually do a crock pot meal as well. However, this time I ordered delivery of Chinese food. Then I wasn’t hungry so barely ate any of it. LOL SO that’s dinner tonight too. I came across a recipe in my facebook memory feed from a few years ago the other day – bacon pickle fries. It sounded so yummy that I bought pickles, bacon, and ranch dressing (for dipping) yesterday so I’m making it them for lunch today. Which btw, will be a hodge podge of stuff and not a “real” meal. I haven’t touched any of my snacks yet since my RAT started at dinner time. SO lunch will be those bacon pickle fries, pretzel thins with spinach/artichoke AND jalapeno/artichoke dips (I couldn’t make up my mind between them so got both instead of my planned hummus) and baby carrots and grape tomatoes also in said dips. I have tortilla chips and salsa too.
