August 2019, Reverse Readathon

Things To Know This #ReverseReadathon

Welcome to home base for this season’s Dewey’s #ReverseReadathon! Why do we call it reversed? Because we start at 8pm on a Friday evening in the Eastern time zone of the US whereas we’d normally begin early in the morning here in the States. This gives our international participants…especially those in Australia and the like…to enjoy a little more doable version of the Readathon.

This event is super chill by our normal standards. We post here every 2-3 hours, no prizes, very few challenges, just an extra excuse to read and a healthy dose of bookish community.

We’ll be on and off Twitter for this event, but if you’d like the most concentrated groups of readers participating, you’ll want to check out:

Our hourly Instagram challenge, the Facebook group, and Goodreads!

We’ll see you back here at start time! In the meantime, if you need your own local start, visit the Start Times page!

  1. 1)What fine part of the world are you reading from today? And what time is it where you are?
Dog Walk, KY, USA. It is 2045 hrs (8:45pm) on Friday, 2 August.

    2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
    The next one. 😉

    3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Thin Oreo mint cookies (esp if they are covered with chocolate) – or baklava. Enough carbs in a couple of those babies to set me up for h.o.u.r.s.!

    4) Do you have a #reversereadathon plan of attack?
None whatsoever. The first time I did the 24 hrs reading, I really did try, but I’m too old (!) to stay up that long. I was in bed for a week after that.

    5) Are you doing the readathon solo or with others?
I probably know some folks doing the Dewey, but I’ve been out of the book blogging circles for several months, and am kind of using this to jump back into the habit of reading.
