Welcome to Hour 13! I’m Dana and I hope you’re enjoying your reading so far!

Yesterday was my birthday and this readathon is my gift to myself. There is nothing better than a whole day spent reading. Well, maybe reading with brownies.

My two boys and I are spending much of the day at the library. They are alternating between playing on the computers and reading with me. It’s a win/win really….they get to play video games and I get more reading time!

Then, on the way home, we’ll stop at the park for a while if the rain stays away. We live in the “Sunshine State” but Florida has NOT lived up to it’s name the past couple of days. April showers bring May flowers though and it’s washing away our pollen so I guess that’s a good thing?

So tell me…where are you reading from today? Anyone else at the library like we are?

Mid-Event Survey:
1. What are you reading right now?
2. How many books have you read so far?
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

  6. I have finished a book that I started before the readathon (had 32 pages were left) and I just finished All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I’m getting ready to start my next book which I’m very excited about … Gemina by Amie Kaufman. Really looking forward to that one because I loved the first book of the series so much and the format, OMG, the format is fun to read! As for interruptions, I didn’t have too many. When adulting tried to interrupt my reading flow, I switched to the audiobook (e.g., during laundry, making dinner, etc.). Now, my kids are ready for bed and I can read until my eyes fall shut. Thank you for organizing something like this! The mini challenges have been just as much fun as the readathon itself.

  7. 1. I am alternating between Ghost Ship by Clive Cussler and Graham Brown (print) and The Witches by Stacy Schiff (audio)
    2. I finished a half-read nonfiction book (The Fourth Reich by Gavriel D Rosenfeld), then working on the two current books. Instead of lots of short books, I went for long works this time.
    3. After finishing Ghost Ship, I’ve got the fourth Wayward Children book by Seanan Mcguire. But I also need to sleep, since I can’t nap tomorrow.
    4. The only interruption was going out to a late lunch and getting sucked into a condo discussion with neighbour’s. It is so hard to extract from those.
    5. Mainly, I’m surprised that I didn’t need a nap this afternoon.

I’m reading the same books, but I’ve been sick and taken a lot of naps and watched tv. I’ve been reading during commercials. I’ve made some amazing progress though!

I haven’t finished any, but I’ve been chipping away at two.

I have been under the weather today so at random moments I’ve been going to sleep. Not much I can do but let my body rest. Watching tv and reading during the commercials has helped me focus so much!

The amount of posts. I am so used to the hourly posts. I kind of miss it to be honest.
