If you have just joined in then WELCOME! I am Fay and this is my final hour co-hosting with you fabulous people. If you haven’t already guessed from my previous hour I love a bit of social media so before we get into this hour it’s time to get snap happy folks! Whether it is twitter or insta it’s a READATHON so show us all what you are reading?!

I’m Currently Reading

Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon, Joanna Cannon, Three Things About Elsie, Books, Fiction, Tea, Reading, Bibliophile, book geek, readathon, Fay Simone

I started this book a while back now but put it down knowing that there was a readathon coming up and it seemed like the type of book that you won’t be able to put down once you are in deep. I am only about a quarter of the way through (chapters have names etc!) and I am absolutely loving it. Despite starting off a little slow the storyline is extremely complex and really has me hooked.

How are you feeling about your current read?

Have you been in and out of Social Media or when you are reading do you ban yourself in case of distraction?

My final question before I go is are you a bit of a neat freak like me?!
If so how do you organise your reading?

Well…. I LOVE a bit of organisation, any chance to write a list or use some beautiful stationery and I am there with bells on!

So, for starters – if you don’t have a collection of bookmarks then post-it notes or other cute little sticky notes will do the job (Even ripped up bits of paper). It will save your beautiful books from getting their pages folded. As I am away I don’t have access to sticky notes right now so shed a little tear for me whilst I use toilet roll as I don’t even have a notepad!

Right – you have your bits ready now it is time to separate. I like to separate by chapter – just think of each chapter as a little achievement and a chance to treat yo’self (I just can’t help myself!).

Thinking along the lines of achievement let’s talk treats of the quick and easy variety

    • 5 Minute break from reading
    • Make yourself a nice smoothie or grab a beer/your favourite beverage.
    • If you aren’t already head outside and take some nice deep breathes
    • Add some tasty treats into the mix alongside regular food for the ‘thon’ have a couple of extra special treats on the side for moments like this!
    • Run yourself a hot bath (with a bath bomb or some nice bubbly stuff!) and when you get to the next chapter get in and indulge until the bubbles disappear or you start to resemble a prune!

Thank you for being gentle with me! And I am looking forward to the rest of the thon kicking back and relaxing reading my book with a little bit of sunshine!

Good Luck Everyone!

  1. How are you feeling about your current read? I’m loving both of them!

Have you been in and out of Social Media or when you are reading do you ban yourself in case of distraction? I try to do as little social media as possible during readathons

My final question before I go is are you a bit of a neat freak like me?!

    1. Glad you are loving your reads, there is nothing worse than thinking that you will love a book and when you finally get to it it really isn’t that good! Going with the flow can be the best way at times but the neat freak in me always creeps out!

Glad I’ve finished Mansfield Park, took me like forever. Finished The Golden Compass which I really liked. And now I’m reading Lightning and Cross Fire which I’m really enjoying as well.

Have you been in and out of Social Media or when you are reading do you ban yourself in case of distraction?
I have been in and out of social media and have very mixed feelings about it: love the interaction, reading everybody’s replies etc but on the other hand, time flies and it feels like lost time….

use bookmarks and keep track of time and pages read but that is about it. I don’t separate my books by chapter. I only do this when I’m having a really hard time finishing the book to motivate myself to keep going each time I finish a chapter….

    1. Hey Susy, Mansfield Park has been on my TBR list for a while so eventually I will get to it! The Golden Compass as in Northern Lights? I LOVED the trilogy and of course the Book of Dust was amazing too.
I completely get how you feel about time flying on social media and it is very easy to get caught up and lost in time!
I need more bookmarks in my life!

  3. How are you feeling about your current read? good a bit slow

Have you been in and out of Social Media or when you are reading do you ban yourself in case of distraction? In and out, just to give myself a break.

My final question before I go is are you a bit of a neat freak like me?!
If so how do you organise your reading? No! I am not a neat freak, I am methodical in certain ways but not organized. Maybe I could be best described as organized unplanner? Meaning that I can plan all I like but I don’t even know if I’ll stick to that plan until the last minute. 😛

    1. An organised unplanner is the one that the planners go to for ideas! It really is nice to give yourself a break every now and then x

  4. How are you feeling about your current read? I’m reading Clockwork Princess, and while I love the series (Infernal Devices) as a whole, I feel like this book is rather slow-moving compared to the first two.

Have you been in and out of Social Media or when you are reading do you ban yourself in case of distraction? I log on to social media at the start of every hour and give myself about 10-15 minutes to catch up, make an update myself, check this blog, etc. I love the social aspect of the readathon even more

And my question is, what are the prizes mentioned in this post for? For the mini-challenges or something else?

    1. You are very disciplined – I say 10 to 15 minutes and then it turns into 30 minutes. With regards to the prizes check in on the prizes page and it should say there if not give Andi (@estellasrevenge on twitter) or Heather (@capriciousreadr on twitter) a shout out and they should lead you in the right direction.

  5. I am currently reading Saga Volume 2 and liking it. The April Readathon is the one time of year I intentionally read comics. I stay fairly active on social media during the Readathon.

I took am a neat freak. I keep my TBR stacks tidy and organized my size. I also journal and plan my Readathon strategy and realities in a pretty notebook.

    1. That’s a good way to do both – comics and communication!
I think I need to get myself a pretty notebook for journalling my future strategies for readathon and life in general! Have a good one x
