Hour 12 – Half Way There!

It’s Julianne from Outlandish Lit BACK for a final hour of readathon co-hosting goodness. We are officially at the half-way point of the readathon!!

In this day and age, you’ve got to multi-task to survive. There are SO MANY things going on in everybody’s lives. You’ve got your real life, you’ve got your online life, you’ve got your job, you’ve got your side hustle, you’ve got your other side hustle, you have to sleep sometimes, etc. etc.

p much me every day

So I just want to commend you all for taking some time for yourself to focus on one thing that you love to do: reading. And hey, if you’ve got to multi-task just to keep a household running or pets alive (or maybe you have to work a little today like I did this morning), just know that we’re all still so proud of you for finding whatever time you can to participate in the readathon. You’re all amazing!! Let us know how you’re doing with the mid-event survey below. Make some friends by using hashtag #readathon wherever you’re social media-ing. I’ll be on the @readathon twitter one more hour if you want to kvetch about things getting in the way of your reading or tell me all about your accomplishments!!

    4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? A few interruptions. I’m currently my mom’s caregiver so daylight hours are for her. But thankfully, she hasn’t needed much help today so I’ve just been needed for meal prep. Which benefits me, too! 😊
    5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? For myself, I’ve read more than usual during the daylight hours! #nightowl But I’m also loving the spirit of giving this time around.

I’ve had a few interruptions here and there. I keep an audiobook handy so I can continue my reading when I need to multitask. Other times I took a break for phone calls and to help my neighbors who were moving out of their apartment today. Took it all in stride.
    5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
This is my first readathon! I’m just happy that I’ve been able to participate. I was afraid I would get tired or too distracted, but it’s been mostly smooth sailing.

2 finished, one I started prior to the ‘thon, the other a graphic novel.

Amulet Graphic Novel Vols. 5-7 by Kazu Kibuishi and The Hypnotist’s Love Story by Laine Moriarty
    4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
A few: social media alerts (just clicked my phone to silent), the beau chats at me once in a while, but he knows what I’m doing so luckily he keeps it brief. He’s been very supportive with making me meals and refilling my beverages so his little interruptions are more of a welcome rejuvenation.
    5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
It’s fun! It’s a lot harder to manage the time I want to spend reading with the time I want to spend updating statuses and interacting with everyone!!

    1. What are you reading right now? Brimstone still
    2. How many books have you read so far? None yet, Brimstone is huge (over 700 pages) and the audiobook is also huge, almost 600 pages
    3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? When done with Brimstone I’m looking forward to starting Needful things by Stephen King
    4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Yes, my brother came and visited for 40 min. I talked to him because it’s a rare thing and he has trouble socializing so I rarely get to talk to him. Also had to go and buy a new phone when camera broke today, and headphone jack broke last week – needed to take pics today and it’s down the road. Had to do a quick store run too.
    5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? How quick the time is flying.

    5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
I thought I would simply read a lot more, but I’ve spent time on some challenges and followed along on Twitter. It’s pretty overwhelming (but still fun) trying to keep up with everything!

I’m looking forward to finishing The Blue Castle and also I started listening to the dramatic version of Heidi on Librivox and it’s shockingly entertaining for my hour 20 read.

    4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
I had a few somewhat brief ones that I managed to use an audiobook when I was at the gym or on the go. I took a few breaks for meals and to rest and now I’m going strong on hour 20. I’m seriously shocked but my back is screaming for me to stop but my head isn’t ready yet, lol.

    5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
I shouldn’t be surprise but how creative everyone is and all the fun challenges. I just wish I could have done them when they where originally up. I’ve been working on my updates, challenges, and posting to pages for the last five hours. I’m ready to quit updating. That’s just too much updating. I thought it would be quicker.
